Etwa 7 Tage später als die Sorte Green Shell hat die Sorte Hokkai Green eine bessere Qualität mit besonders gutem Geschmack und dickeren Bohnen. Wüchsig Pflanzen. Erntereif, wenn die Hülsen prall gefüllt sind. Für Edamame werden die Schoten in Wasser gekocht, gesalzen und serviert. Die Hülsen können nicht verzehrt werden, nur die Bohnen werden gegessen. Kann auch eingefroren werden.
