Schöne blau-violette Blüten geben dieser Pflanze durch ihr Aussehen den Namen. Duftpflanze, Insektenweide und traditionelle Heilpflanze, die ähnlich wie Zitronenmelisse wirkt. Dazu wird das blühende Kraut getrocknet und als Tee zubereitet. Einjährig.

Die Aussaat erfolgt ab Anfang März bis Mai bei 15 - 20 °C, Keimdauer ca. 7 - 12 Tage. Direktsaat ab Mitte April etwa 1 cm tief.

Die Pflanzen erreichen eine Höhe von etwa 50 cm
